A student council is a group of student leaders who work with the superior of the institution to promote the well-being of the student and staff community and maintain a harmonious relationship with their environment. The student council promotes the leadership activities, maintain cultural values and maintain human relationships. The student council of our college is constituted after analyzing the different skills of the candidate and unanimously selected by the Management, Head of The Institution and Department heads with the discussion of Faculty Members. The council consists of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and different representations for various categories from the final year students and a Joint-Secretary from the Second Year.
This council has an important role in co-ordinating the administrative and academic activities of the college. The college council members have regular meetings among themselves and with the class representatives periodically. These meetings make the students to express their perceptions, opinions and expectations for the upliftment of their community and college. Curricular and co-curricular activities are promoted by the council. The representatives with the assistance of their student friends functions effectively. The literacy association secretaries promote the students to involve in various competitions and programmes organized.
The fine-arts committee takes care of all the cultural activities to be conducted on various functions. The science secretaries involve themselves and others to participate in various science related activities. The service secretaries make them to work in parallel with the social activities in and out the college placement. Secretaries with the placement cell work with the motto of achieving better placements for all the students. The students are also involved in various other committees like Anti-Ragging Committee, Sexual Harassment Council, Women Development Cell, Grievances Redressal Cell, Library, Sports Committee, etc., The selected office bearers are trained to maintain a good rapport among the students, Faculties, Management and the Public.
The students are made to feel free to express their suggestions and problems faced. The solutions are made then and there. The representatives also demand for the necessary measures to be taken for the upliftment of academic and co-curricular activities. Vivekanandhar Mandram, Thirukkural Paeravai and other such committees also promote the patriotic feel, cultural and traditional aspects of the students. The representative students collect the grievances measures to be implemented and submit the same to the management through the head of the institution. The grievances will be sorted out by the management at the earliest as possible. Separate inaugural and valedictory functions are conducted to promote and stimulate the students. Thus the student council promotes a forum for student opinions, interests and desires so that they could understand, interpret and reflect to cater their needs at the college.
