STUDENT SEMINAR DETAILS

102 students have participated and won prizes in various competitions in intercollegiate meets. 183 students have participated & presented papers in National level & state level seminars.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Nearly 60 students have become M.Phil research scholars

PLACEMENT DETAILS

The students of The department have been placed in various institutions and fields, after securing their degree in Navarasam Arts and Science college for women.
In 2012 – 2013, 28 students are placed both in on campus and off campus.
In the academic year 2013 – 2014, 45 students are placed.
In the next academic year 2014-2015, 35 students have been placed.
Then in 2015-2016, 55 candidates are appointed.
In the year 2016-2017, 54 students are placed.
2016-2017, T SUBHASHALINI & L.LAKSHIMIPRIYA cleared Group II and got posting in Tamil Nadu Police Service.
Then in the academic year 2018-2019, 46 students are placed.
In the year 2019-2020, 53 students are placed as a Communicative English Trainers in reputed schools and in numerous fields.
In 2020-2021, 17 students placed in Language Trainer and Hand writing Trainer.
In 2021-2022, 7 students become a Teacher in various schools.
In 2022-2023, some of our students placed in TCS, Chennai and also a Language Trainer.
In 2023-2024, few students got placed in reputed schools as Language Trainer and one student in Southern Railways.

SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS/CONFERENCES ORGANISED

  The department has organised seminar on 24/8/2012. The seminar has been proceed over by K.A. Akalya M.A.,M.Phil.,Ph.D from Sri Vasavi Arts and Science college (self), Erode in the topic of “Life and Literature”. Merely 416 students have participated in that occasion.
 P.Nagaraj from Bharathiar University has been invited as a resource person for The department seminar conducted on 4/10/2013. The topic of “English Language and the Digital world” was clearly explained by him with the strength of 377 students.
  Department seminar has been conducted on 24.01.2014 with the topic of “Literature : The Mirror of Life”. Mr.K.R.Radhakrishnan M.S., M.Phil., from Vivekanandha College of Arts and Science,Thrichencode gave an inspiring speech before 422 students.
  The department has conducted literary exhibition in the topic of “The Man of Knowledge and the Power of Inspiration” on 19/2/2014. Dr. T. Manasan M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., and Mr.C.Sadhasivam M.A.,M.Phil., from Chikkaiah Naicker College have been invited as a chief guest, 400 students have participated in that occasion.
 K.M.Dharmarajan (retd.professor) has been called as a resource person for The department seminar conducted on 26/7/2014. The topic “Characters in Shakespeare’s play” was clearly dealt by him before 413 students.
 National level seminar has been organised by The department. Dr.V.Bharathi Harisankar from University of Madras, Dr.Lillian Jasper from Women’s Christian college, Chennai, Dr.G.Vennila Bharathi Women’s Government Arts and Science college, Chennai,Dr.Maria Preethi Srinivasan, Queen Mary’s college, Chennai, Dr.Padma V Mckertish from Stella Maris college, Chennai and Dr.Amudha Pandian, Research officer, TamilNadu state council for higher education Chennai has been invited as resource person. They have given seminar on the topic of “Women and Culture: The War within and without”.
  The department seminar has been conducted on 9/1/2015 with the topic of “Literary Genre”. Mr.A.Athiyappan M.A.,M.Phil.,Ph.D from PGP college of Arts and Science college,Namakkal has given an inspiring speech towards 398 students.
 N.Mythili M.A.,M.Phil.,Ph.D., has been accepted to be the resource person for The department seminar on 29/7/2015. She has given an admiring speech on “Boot your Literature”.
 Department seminar has been conducted on 11/10/2017. The Chief Guest was Dr.C.Kumarasamy Secretary and Correspondent, Navarasam Arts and Science College for women. He has given speech on “Life, Language and Literature”.
 I.Selvam vice Principal, Navarasam Arts and Science College for women proceed over the seminar on 18/7/2016 in the topic “Power of Language and Literature”.
 S. Saradhambal, Sri Vasavi college Erode has given a guest lecture on “Post colonial Literature” on 11/01/2017. Merely 354 students have joined in that occasion.
  Guest lecture has been organized by The department on 17.6.2017. Mr.P.KarthiM.A.,B.Ed.,M.Phil.,PGDHRM,DATTM.,(Ph.D), Associate professor of English, Gobi Arts and Science Colege, Gobi has given an inspiring speech on “Soft skills for professionals excellence”. He has expressed about the importance of soft skills for social participation. Nearly 211 students have participated in that session.
 Mrs.P.Selvi M.A., M.Phil., B.Ed.,Ph.D., Assistant professor of English from Vellalar College for Women (Autonomous), Thindal, Erode has been given a guest lecture on “English – Ws and H” on 16.2.2018. She has presented that how the students should approach the literature and what is the role played by English in human life. Nearly 311 students and 18 faculties have benefited in that session.
 The department had conducted guest lecture on 28.02.2019 entitled “Something For Nothing”. Dr.L.M.Swarnalatha, Ass.Prof. & Head, PG and Research, Department of English, vellalar College For Women, Thindal acted as the resource person.
 On 25.07.2019 we had a welcome function for the first years for that our vice principal Mr.I Selvam delivered the special note on the topic “Successful Life”.
 A Workshop was held on 22.08.2019 on the topic “Soft Skills & Communicative Skills”. Jc.M.K.K. Bharath, President, JCI, Erode Metro and Jc.M.P.Karthick, Secretary, JCI Erode were the resource person.
 The department collaborated with metro enterprise and organized a workshop for 13.03.2020 to 16.03.2020.
 A one day online Faculty Development Programme was organized on the topic “Functional Competencies” by G. Kumaraguru Chief Trainer& Principal Consultant
 Genzee Training & Consultancy on 27/04/2024.
  Mr.S.Sathiskumar, Director, Aptitude,LR&Soft Skills and Ms.Dharanya Sundhar, Soft Skill Trainer, Chennai trained the students on “Public Speaking and personality Development”.
 The department collaborated with Jcrt Erode Metro organized online student development programme “Get Set Go” on 01.08.2020. JC.A.Dhanavel, founder – Headcoach, Guru+Transformation Erode acted as a resource person.
 We organized an online guest lecture programme on 31.10.2020 entitled “Reading Skills to enhance creativity & proficiency of literature students”. Dr.J.Anbalahan Vijay, Head & Professor, GCT, CBE acted as resource person.
 The department conducted online student development programme on 19.03.2021 on “Glimpses of Literarure”. Ms.S.Poornima, Asst.Prof. of English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person.
 Online student development programme was organized on th topic “ I am Who I Am” on 11.09.2021 and Jc.Dr.P.M.Bhavana, Zone Trainer, JCI, Coonoor acted as a resource person.
 A webinar was held on 20.11.2021 on the topic “Enhancing Your English in the IT Era”. Dr.N.Vijayadurai, formerly Associate Prof. & Head, Deopartment of English, CNC, Erode was the resource person.
 The Department of English organised THEATRE CLUB INAUGURATION & WORKSHOP on ‘PEN WARRIORS’ from 28.9.22 to 30.9.22 to develop the skill in Script writing & Video Editing. Mr. Pugal, Film Director, was the resource person.
 The Department of English organised LITERARY ASSOCIATION INAUGURAL & GUEST LECTURE on ‘IMPACT OF LANGUAGE LEARNING STRATEGIES ON PROFICIENCY’ on 21.10.22 (FRIDAY) To become an expertise in learning a language. Dr. Indira Balini, Assistant Professor & Head, Guru Nanak College, Chennai was the resource person. She stressed the importance of four communication skills which are necessary to become an efficient person.
 Jc. A. Arusullah & Jc. Karthick Provisional Zone Trainers from JCI ERODE METRO have trained our students on the Topics of ‘Decision Making, Interview Skills and Personal Grooming’ on the occasion of “FUTURE” on 15.11.2022.
 The Department of English organised One Day International Conference on ‘Emerging Trends and Challenges in English Language and Literature’ on 02.02.2023. Dr. Justin James, Professor of English, President- ELTAI-CIETTA University of Technology and Applied Sciences NIZWA Govt. Sultanate of Oman and Prof. Abdulatheef Kampuravan Head, Department of English, Formerly of MoE BRUNEI, Govt. Arts and Science College, Kondotty, Kerala have invited as resource persons. Around 293 Students, Research Scholars and Academicians have participated in the conference. Resource persons clearly discussed emerging trends and challenges in English Language and Literature.. The clear cut guidance has been given by the resource person.
 JUNIOR JCI WEEK was celebrated by the wing from 20.07.2023 to 25.07.23. Various programmes and events were conducted. Effective Public Speaking: 20.07.2023. This program provides guidance on how to plan and prepare for effective presentations. 20 students from various departments participated and learnt public speaking techniques.
 Food and Cloth Donation: 21.07.2023
 Uncooked food and cloth were donated to orphanage home. Grocery items worth of Rs. 4,000 were collected from students and donated to Karunalaya Children’s Home, Erode.
 Eye and Dental Camp: 24.07.2023
 Through the camp, eye and dental care services were provided to a large number of people in a short time. Students, public came and checked their eyes and dental. About 252 members got benefited in both the camps. Doctors and technicians from Imai Eye Care Centre, Erode, Dr. Naresh, from Naresh Dental Care, Erode rendered their service.
 Honouring the Teachers: 24.07.2023
 To inculcate the culture of showing gratitude towards teachers among students community the event was organized. HoDs and teachers were honoured with shawl.
 Clean Drive: 25/07/2023
 The drive was started by the slogan “Don’t be bitter. Stop the litter”. We cleaned our playground by removing grass rashes, gravels and pebbles. About 100 gathered and cleaned the ground.
 Craft and Poem Writing Competition: 25.07.2023
 To enhance imaginative, creative and writing skill, these competitions were conducted. Students created wonderful crafts from waste. Drawing competition on the theme “Tobacco Free India” was conducted. Prizes distributed to the winners. Certificates were given to all participants.
 Guest Lecture
 The Guest Lecture was conducted on 26.2.24 on the topic “Adaptation Studies: From Page to Screen- Analyzing Film Adaptations of Literary Works”. The Guest Speaker was Mr. Harsh Dubey, Guest Lecturer, Department of English, Government Arts and Science College, Dharapuram. Students learnt various technological issues related to film studies. Students learnt different types of aspects related to adaptations in films.
 On 27.08.2024, through Junior JCI , a training programme was conducted. Students got the knowledge to face the future without any fear. And through it, a less used clothes were also contributed to them.
 On 13.09.2024 Junior JCI and Nourish and Flourish Club jointly organized a Zumba Dance for the science stream students. Students and faculties felt relaxed after attending the session.
 EXTENSION ACTIVITIES: (ACADEMIC YEAR: 2016-17)
  Following the foot prints of Mother Terasa, 15 students of II M.A English Literature visited an orphanage (SanmarkaGurukulam) in Keeranur in order to witness the condition of orphanages. There were nineteen young children and forty old people. The students went to learn their life style; in turn they came to know how they lead a disciplined life. The young children came out with many queries to secure high marks in their SSLC and HSC examination. Our students had given them many ways of learning. Fifty bed spreads, twenty boxes of used dresses and Rs.3000 for one session food were donated for them on behalf of The department. Our service minded students motivated them in many ways. The main motto of the visit was to create awareness among the young students of our college and also outside world. This beginning will be a ‘saga’.
  The Department of English conducted Department Library Book Review Competition on 12.11.2022 in the department. Fifteen students had participated in the competition.
  Six students from III BA English, taught English Grammar, Short Story, Prose and Poetry for XII Std Students at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Karungalpalayam, Erode. They have also received Certificate of Appreciation for their strenuous effort.
 Department Library organizes Skit, Oratorical, Book Review as Best Practice to develop intensive and extensive reading among students and to increase knowledge as well as fluency of students on 17.02.2024. Students actively participated in the competitions and won prizes. COLLABORATION SHAKESPEARE INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH STUDIES,CHENNAI
 The English department has collaborated with Shakespeare institute for conducting many competitions for the welfare of the students. So for 1200 students from 2012 to till date were participated and won prizes.
  The English Department has collaborated with ELTAI-CITTA from 2022-2023 and providing training and academic support based on LSRW.
CLUB ACTIVITIES

 English Literary Association :
 The Department conducts various activities for the students through English Literary Association with the motto to develop the potentiality of language of the students. The Association conducts various competitions like Oratorical, Essay writing, Poem Recitation, Skit, Free zone, Collage, Mime, Debate, , Facial Painting, AD Wizardry, Literary Parade, etc. to bring out the hidden talents of the students and to give a platform for them to exhibit their skills.
 So for 65 students from 2012 to 2017 were participated and got prizes in various competitions.
 The English Literary Association (ESPERENZA’20) inaugural function conducted through online mode on 10.10.2020. The expected key note address was proceeded by our chief guest Mrs.Vennila Sathyamoorthi, Director, English for Everyone,Learningcentre,Chennai On, English language competency:Need and Challange. Totally 14 faculty members and 85students participated in this programme.
 English Literary Association “GRAZIE 2021” was inaugurated by Dr.K.M.KAMALAKKANNAN Assistant Professor of English, Erode Arts and Science College,Rangampalayam on 25th October 2021 and gave speech on “ENGLISH FOR CAREER”.
 English Literary Association conducted various competitions like SKIT & FREEZE-ZONE on 23.10.2021. It stimulates and motivates the young enterprising minds to perform challenging activities. It functions with the motive of sharpening the literary, aesthetic and communicative skills of the students.
 English Literary Association organises the competition in EXTEMPORE on 30.10.2021 on the topics Impact Of Social Media On Youngsters & Digital Media Is A Boon Or Curse.
 English Literary Association conducted competition in DEBATE on 3.12.2021 on the topic Who Is Best In Parenting? Young Mothers Vs Old Generation Mothers.
 English Literary Association conducted competition in DUMB CHARADES on 5.3.2022.
 On the eve of “NATIONAL POLLUTION DAY” (2.12.2021) English Literary Association conducted competition in ART FROM WASTE and DRAWING competition with the title of “POLLUTION FREE INDIA” on 6.12.2021.
 English Literary Association conducted competition in CHRISTMAS COMPETITIONS on 23.12.2021. The Competition was started at 11 am. Competitions Conducted in CRIB COMPETITION, CAKE COMPETITION, DANCE, SINGING, GROUP SINGING, MIME, DRAMA with the title of “A SEASON FOR A REASON”.
 English Literary Association conducted competition in MIME & JANE AUSTEN NOVEL CHARACTERS on16.12.2021. The Competition was started at 11 am on account of “A NATAL DAY CELEBERATION OF JANE AUSTEN”.
 The students have participated in the Doll Making Competition and showed their creativity. The students can learn how to make art from clay. The students also developed their extension activity skills on 01.09.2022.
 Crossword was conducted 21.03.2023; Students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition.
 Poetry Writing students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 24.03.2023.
 Literary Quiz Students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 21.03.2023.
 Sketch A Poem was conducted and Students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 21.03.2023.
 Oratorical and Drawing Competition, on the topic The Great Leader Kamaraja was conducted and Students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 15.07.2023.
 Doll Making and Kozhukkatta making Competition 19.09.2023 students from various departments came forward with their creativity. We received 04 dolls made of clay and 04 kozhukkatta.
 English Literary Association conducted oratorical competition in the title “Women As A Freedom Fighters”. Students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 19.08.2023.
Disaster Management Club
 English Department heads the Disaster Management Club for imparting the knowledge for dealing with all humanitarian aspects at the time of emergency for speedy recovery and to lessen the impact of Disaster. Every year nearly 40 students participate as members of the club.
 The resource person from various departments such as doctors, fire service also invited to our club in order to give institution among the students.
Theatre Club
 Theatre Club is designed for students interested in learning more about the aspects of theatre. This includes learning stage terminology. Working on acting skills, set building and costumes make up design. In order for a student to participate in the production, the student must attend theatre club meetings. English theatre club organizes various competitions and drama sessions for the students to enhance their communicating, speaking and acting skills. The students get guidelines to improve their gestures, creativity, stage craft and acting skills.
 The Department of English organised THEATRE CLUB INAUGURATION & WORKSHOP on ‘PEN WARRIORS’ from 28.9.22 to 30.9.22 to develop the skill in Script writing & Video Editing. Mr. Pugal, Film Director, was the resource person.
 Singing Competition students from various departments came forward to take part in the competition on 23.09.2023.
 Photoshoot Competition on 24.02.2024, students from English department came forward to take part in the competition.
LIMELIGHT PRODUCTIONS:
